  1. BOBBY LABONTES name should be blue…..2000 Winston Cup Champ.

    • Since it’s a speculated change that he might run part-time in a second JTG car next car, the entry is red. That’s the same reason why although Kurt Busch is the 04 champ, his name is purple (it’s been announced and confirmed that he will be racing for SHR next year). I try to minimize the number of colors I use in a single entry there, although sometimes it’s not feasible.

But thank you for your comment 🙂

  2. I am a Veteran following NASCAR since D.W. and Neil Bonnet were Team mates and they were the days of real RACING!!!! Now we have a bunch of Cocky Punks riding around on 6 lane racetracks. Today its about MONEY and nothing else!! Being a Bobby Labonte Fan,well you seen they put A J AllmenDrugger in the #47 car and did NO better.I am afraid if Bobby retires from Cup racing,So will I as a viewer on the BOOB tube cuz today that’s all that’s driving. Today NASCAR is between Gibbs and Hendrick with Penske,Roush, and RCR getting a win far few between!!! GOOD BYE NASCAR cuz if Bobby Labonte is Gone,So am I!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Normally I don’t dignify these posts with a response, but I will this time.

      1) NASCAR has *ALWAYS* been about money. Back when the series started it was a way for drivers to make money and feed their family. Often times a wrecked racecar meant no more family car. Racing in general has always been about money. And I don’t blame any team owners for making it about money, either. Running a race team is an expensive ordeal. This isn’t charity; these people are running a business and are in business to make money.

      2) Labonte couldn’t get out of his own way most of this year. He ran 28 races this year combined between the 47 and 51 teams. His average finish for the year was 29th- and in back-to-back races at Michigan and Sonoma he managed to finish dead last. Without start-and-parking, that takes mad skill (in a bad way).
Meanwhile, JTG put Allmendinger in the 47 for 8 races, and he immediately went out and scored a Top 20 for a team that struggled to do so. His 3rd race in the 47 was the team’s only Top 10 all season long. Of those 8 races, only one was worse than Labonte’s average finish, and that was the season finale at Homestead.

      3) NASCAR is hardly between Gibbs and Hendrick only. Did you miss the entire 2011 and 2012 seasons when Tony Stewart and Brad Keselowski were crowned Cup champions? You also apparently missed the fact that RCR’s top driver this year, Kevin Harvick, had 4 wins this year- 3rd most in Cup. Not to mention that Roush and Penske combined for 5 wins between them. In total, those teams you listed that win “far and few between” ended up winning 1/4 of the schedule this year.
In Nationwide, it’s a Gibbs/Penske-fest, sure. Hendrick however doesn’t even have a Nationwide team, so they don’t dominate that series.

It’s not the fault of teams like Hendrick or Gibbs that their drivers dominate the series. If you want to blame anyone, blame the other teams that aren’t capable of competing. This is a series where if you can’t compete, you don’t survive.

  7. I think nascar should put in a rule that any driver that drives in the sprint cup series should not be able to drive in the nationwide series. This wouid give the younger drivers more experence.maybe if drivers like kyle busch, logano, edwards would put more into there sprint cup teams maybe they would win a championship. The nationwide series should be for drivers who want to make it to the sprint cup series not for the drivers who have allready made it. It should be like any other sport, when you make the show you do not want to go back to the minors.you don’t see players in baseball hockey baskettball going back to the minors so the can dominate the easier competion.
